OK..Jamie.. I did go old school this time.. Got me an '88 Dodge Ram..4x4 auto.. wish it was a stick..but..oh well..it'll do..
with a plow..with 131k original miles on it..
Floorboards, rockers , cab mounts etc all solid! Door bottoms? well they're loosing the rust war.. but..i can fix that..
Needs a water pump and some TLC..but it runs great..moves..stops.. and..i'll get it roadworthy.. not going to go crazy with it..but i'll get it looking better..
check it out.. Hell ..what i paid for it.. i could sell the plow..which works mint..for more than the truck.. I got it for 200 bucks! lol eat your hearts out..
lol

the dude who owned it wasn't concerned with how much he got.. he just wanted the truck to sell it to someone that could get some use out if it..
and..it had overheated..where he'd shut it down and didnt use it again..because he didnt want to go to the garage and spend another 500 bucks.. so..he got a snowblower.. and it sat for a little over a year..
He told me he was asking 800.. and wouldn't take 50 bucks..but would probably not even question an offer in between.. I was going to say 100 bucks.. but figured i didn't want to steal it real bad..
lol
Granted..in person..it's filthy.. there's a bedliner..even a toolbox that locks.. as well as 'tree slime' from being under a tree for over a year..
the interior is far from pristine..and there's no springs popping out of the seat.. but i'll try finding some buckets and console outa of a Ramcharger or something..IF i can find any..lol
meanwhile..once i thouroughly clean it..and pressure wash it after dousing it with Super Clean... THEN..i'll start fixing the mechanicals..
The cleanup will take a coupla days minimum..hehee..
I was impressed that 318 fired right up.. then found out it was fuel injected..wooohooo...bonus.. anyways..no lifter noises at all..and it seemed to run pretty good.. it moved.. it stopped.. and the plow has recently replaced rams as well as the motor unit itself appears fairly new..considering..
yep.. i told another bud of mine what i paid for it and he called me a thief.. sheeeeeeeesh..
he knows now i have it..and once i fix it..come winter..if i want to..hmmm.. make a profit.. i bet i could..lol..

Thanks Steve..but i aint got any pics yet.. i will be getting flat bedded home sometime this week.. and then the process starts..
I will take pics of it before.. and during tho..
The pics you see now..well..it looks ok.. but..in real life..those door bottoms are crusty ..and paint peeling..etc.. The body generally speaking tho..overall..other than the doors..is pretty sound..beings it's 21 years old.. But i have the original title..even tho it's not needed..and the mileage is actual at 131K..i'm the 3rd owner.
Once i get my pressure washer out..I'll blast the crap right off of it..and probably fiberglass the doors up..since i think finding rust free doors would be more cost effective than me cutting out the steel and welding in skins.. Been there..done that.. and..well..i could do it..but im gonna keep looking till i find a set..Only cause the rockers and floorboards are still solid. I'll probably pull the rugs and seat out of it as well.. and depending on what i find..decide if i do a little rust preventive maintenance...lol
Sides.. i want to find a set of buckets for it..something that would fit it.. since it's a regular cab..
But..hell..the water pumps gonna set me back 60 bucks plus coolant..and..well..I'll start there and see how it goes.. I mean..it runs..it'll move..the brake pedal is nice and high and firm..the rear wheel cylinders and brake lines have been replaced..
It still has a green inspection sticker..so it's actually still inspected..but probably just ran out..so..it was on the road.
There's a little repair work that was done over the rear wheel wells..but the front fenders are mint..as are the rockers.. It's really wierd how bad the door bottoms got..and the rockers look solid as hell..
That Meyers plow rig unit is actually pretty neat as well.. instead of a trip edge at the bottom of the plow blade..like a Fisher plow.. the whole blade folds over if it hits an obstacle..and then snaps back..
I've used a Western plow which is similar..and i liked that feature..
Thing is.. when i find the right deal..i'll probably trade that Ranger XLT supercab 4x4 i got for ANOTHER Dodge..where someone's looking to get rid of their gas guzzling 3/4 ton Ram ..w/ or w/o plow.... lol
OR..when i actually get a job again.. be able to buy that '09 lol and not need to beat it up with a plow..haha

Well guys and gals..i got the old girl home today..
daggummit..gonna have to do something about the power steering..or lack of it.. AND a water pump..which is coming UPS in a few days..and...well i used about a gallon of Purple Stuff degreaser to get the crap off it..
I guess the 88 was prone to having paint peelage issues.. i can see this one is gonna be needing some paint at some point..lol..
anyways..i got some pics for those who are interested..lol
it runs good really.. looks worst than it is.. and..the body for 21 years old..is..well..not too bad..
nothing a little metal..a little fiberglass and a lot of time here and there.. and..it ought to work out fine..
Hell ..i was already offered 800 for it!!!! geeeeeeesh!!!!
